MSCR Classes

The Fall programs being offered are:
Adult Fitness
- Cardio Kickboxing: Mondays 6:05-7:00pm 9/28-11/30
A great cardiovascular fitness and muscle toning workout, including aerobics, kicks and boxing techniques to upbeat music.
- Pilates and Yoga Fusion -Beginning- NEW!Thursdays 6:00-6:55 pm, 10/1-12/3, Skip 11/26.
Fusion combines traditional yoga postures, breath work and a classic repertoire of Pilates
core strengthening exercises. Tone, strengthen and lengthen your muscles.
Please bring a mat to class.
- 15/15/15 NEW!: Tuesdays 8:15-9:00pm, 9/29-12/1
This class combines 15 minutes of cardio training, 15 minutes of toning using weights,
exercise bands, and exertubes followed by 15 minutes of a *surprise* (yoga, zumba,
hip hop dance, stretching, butts and guts). Please bring a mat to class.
- Hatha Yoga- Beginning: Tuesdays 7:05-8:00 pm., 9/29-12/1
This beginner class combines yoga postures with deep breathing to promote flexibility, balance, relaxation, and muscle strength. Bring a yoga mat to class.
- Zumba: Two Sessions: Mondays 8:15-9:00pm, 9/28-11/30 and Thursdays 7:15-8:00pm, 10/1-12/3 (Skip 11/26).
Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music- dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system. The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy-to-follow dance steps.
- Cardio Fit- NEW!: Two sessions: Mondays 7:05-8:00pm, 9/28-11/30 and Thursdays 8:05-9:00pm, 10/1-12/3 (Skip 11/26).
A combination of spiced up cardio, body sculpting and core training in an ever changing
format. Use bands to tone all areas of your body. Get ready to sweat! Some fitness
experience necessary.
- Pilates- Beginning:Tuesdays 6:00-6:55pm, 9/29-12/1.
Pilates focuses on postural symmetry, breath control, abdominal strength, and spine
stabilization. Instead of isolating muscle groups, train the whole body, integrating the
upper and lower extremities with the trunk. Please bring a mat to class.
50+ Fitness
- Core & Balance Combo: Wednesdays 1:45-2:45, 9/16-12/16.
Incorporates the elements of Pilates, yoga and core strength training. Class includes
both standing balance exercises and mat work. Please bring a yoga mat to class.
- Yoga: Gentle Yoga: Fridays 9:00-10:00 a.m., 9/18-12/4.
The encouragement to focus on breath awareness, the 'feel of the stretch,' the slow
movement of these gentle exercises, a bit of yoga philosophy and the wonderful ending
meditation make this class fit all levels of ability. Please bring a yoga mat to class.
Arts & Enrichment
- Drawing-Beginning: Wednesdays 6:00-8:30pm, 10/7-11/11.
Learn basic compositional and perspective aspects from still life arrangements and
photographs. Learn to see light and shadow as the artist sees values to create the illusion
of 3-dimensional objects on paper. Materials provided.
- Photography: Digital- Very Beginning: Monday 10/19 6:00-9:00 p.m.
For those new to digital photography. This course covers very basic digital camera features
and operation. Bring camera and owners manual to class. Those who basically
understand their digital camera and want to improve photo skills should conside Digital
Photography.
- Photography: Digital- Beginning: Three sessions- all Mondays 6:00-8:30 p.m., 1) 9/28-10/12, 2) 10/26-11/9, and 3) 11/16-11/30.
Tips and advice on how to take photographs with a digital camera. Learn how to handle
varying light situations and how to 'make' a great photograph. Both camera operation
and creative photograph design is covered. Participants should have a basic
understanding of their digital camera and bring the owners manual to class to use as a
reference. This course also covers transfer of images to the computer, basic scanning
and printing hints, and an evaluation session of submitted student photos as time permits.
Parent-Child Classes
- I Made That!: Thursdays 10:00-10:45 a.m., 10/1-10/29.
An art class just for the little ones (and their parents)! Make projects such as paintings, collages, puppets,
hats, animals, jewelry and musical instruments. Ages 2 years to 3 years work on introduction
to painting, cutting, pasting and construction. Siblings and guests must be registered
to attend.
