"The Wexford Ridge Neighborhood Center has been the heart and soul of the neighborhood over many years. Despite really inadequate quarters the contribution of the center has been inspiring and highly respected in our broader community. Now, with an opportunity to create a visionary integration of community and school, it's time for all of us to step up and provide the physical space required to meet this exciting challenge."

Residents of west Madison, regardless of socio-economic background, shared a need for civic opportunities that improve their circumstances and quality of life; however, there was no building on Madison's west side purposely operated as a public community space. The ever-increasing demand for WRNC's services exceeded our capacity to meet all the needs of individuals in our community. Operating out of three small converted apartments, the WRNC's space limitations greatly restricted the variety and size of programs it was able to support.
Madison is growing and changing. Now is the time to embrace a vibrant, welcoming community space where people of all ages can develop their potential and contribute to a stronger community. In building the LCEC, we have the opportunity to live out the values of the WRNC, build upon its strengths, and increase its capacity to impact the community.
